“Year of the Tiger” Over-Planning Pregnancy Revisited…

Hi Ladies,

My obsession with Year of the Tiger babies got worse when I discover parent/child astrology two months ago.  This is the worst thing to happen to indecisive people since splitting pizza toppings or swirl options at the yogurt shop!  Anyways, I got sucked into an astrology site that basically told the astrological break downs of the month and cross refernced them with the months and years of chinese astrology comparing both parents and child.  There was also a sibling section, but by then I was about to hyperventilate so we’ll start with one, thankyouverymuch.

Being a Tiger myself and having a Tiger as a mother too, I see both the pro’s and con’s.  Pro’s: three generations of tigers, pretty cool.  Con’s: Maybe I am more like my mother than I thought? Pro, my mom is pretty cool and we have a similar sense of humor.  Con: Most people do not think its very funny…

It was so overwhelming. But a very cool thing to read about. I did learn that when you have two tigers and a boar, the tigers rule the roost.  This is good news considering my husband is a boar.  That said, if I have a baby before feb 2011, I for certain, will have the best odds in our household as far as winning decisions go.  However, being the woman of the house, I already have a handful of tricks up my sleeve that pretty much ensure odds in my favor in our household 95% of the time anyways. So do I need to put the rush on having babies just to have a year of the tiger baby??? And then there are all kinds of tigers too. This is a whole different conversation for another day! Today, we’ll keep it simple.

I found the whole astrology thing so overwhelming, I brought it up to my cousin, who is my same age with 3 kids and she said it best.  She said, “Jennifer that is all a bunch of crap.  At the end of the day you won’t care about any of that, all you’ll hope and care about is that your baby is healthy.”

These words of wisdom helped to put it all in perspective. At the end of the day, she was right. You can’t over plan your life or giving life. No matter how much we like to control things, sometimes its better to let things happen when they were supposed to. I guess what I’m saying is, sometimes it’s best to just live life.

Follow along with me on my journey from carefree newlywed to motherhood. When I thought I was ready for a child I decided to get a dog, just to be sure. It will be fun to see how far doggy logic really is from parenting.

I have a simple rule for astrology. If my forecast is positive than it has to be real. If it is negative than it has to be fake.
