We all know I love reality TV. I am a reality TV junkie.
I also love the show Big Love on HBO.
Well thanks to TLC, I can now watch the Reality TV show version of Big Love, Sister Wives.
I have so many things to say about this and I just don’t know where to begin.
I don’t care that this guy has more than one wife. As long as there in no abuse, women/children are not being forced to marry, and everyone is of consenting age, I don’t care who you marry or even how many people you marry.
Would I want to be a sister wife?
Depends
Who’s my husband? Is he that good looking? Is it Justin Timberlake?
Will they help share house cleaning duties?
Will they deal with my husband on days I don’t want to?
Ok, so realistically I won’t be or want to be a sister wife, but who am I to say what best for others.
One thing I know for sure, I will be watching this show. At least the first episode. I have so many questions!!!

Um, okay, I’m so glad you posted about this. I’m so intrigued and excited, it’s sort of disturbing.
Ummm would not be the life for me. Maybe I am just selfish and expect that a man ONLY be mine? IDK.
If its help with the kids or chores you want–Hire a nanny/Housekeeper.
I mean I know Humans are typically the most animal that are monogamous–Geese are, Wolves are (not domesticated dogs or mutts but wolves) and possibly a few others….. Animals on a whole are NOT typically monogamous. (and yes humans are in fact animals LOL)
Maybe its my upbringing but men who cheat and or feel the need to have “other women” as in this case are generally degrading women at best. What about the wives? are they allowed to have “other husbands”?
To me marriage vows are meant to devote YOUR WHOLE SELF to that special person. If you can’t do that then stay single and just breed with multiple partners LOL
And what about the kids? What does that do to them?
I can’t say whats best for THEM—but I don’t personally agree with that lifestyle.
Can I lament? Why does every show based in Utah make us all look like freaks?!
While it most certainly isn’t a mainstream practice now, my great-great-great grandma was a polygamist… and I’ve read that in pioneer times it actually was beneficial to the women because they shared the housework and many were actually able to work outside the home a little — not much, mostly doing things like quilting and crafts and selling fruit. There was a lot to do to keep a house running when the basic necessities like running water weren’t around!
But now… I don’t know. I’ve always been slightly proud to have it in my history. But I couldn’t share my husband. Not today and not tomorrow, no matter what my church said.
You know, I agree that sometimes it would be nice to be able to share household duties, but I just can’t see myself sharing my husband. Hmmm… I think I will definitely watch the show though. I am curious as to how the women really feel about living this way. Thanks for the heads up.
tlc-you must be able to find a better show than this sister wives! This guy acts like a hair brain moron ,like he is 12 years old -poor Meri-I think she really deserves a real man to love her all the time –Can”t wait until they take this disgususting show off! I feel sorry for the kids-this will be hard on them someday.
Ok so it kills me that people have an issue with four woman who CHOOSE to live together help each other and share a husband but think it’s ok for a man to have 4 or5 babys mommas heck all these people wanna do is love their life and not have to hide. No one is being hurt it is their religion that is their right
