I was asked by Traveling Mom to write about the one family vacation I’d be happy to repeat. Most of my regular reader know that we are a traveling family. I’ve joked that Ellie has more frequent flier miles than most adults. We have had so many amazing vacations, but one special trip sticks out in my mind the most.
Every summer we head to the east coast. We spend and week in Connecticut, a week in Pennsylvania and then a week traveling down the east coast. I am then only West Coaster in my family. Wait, my brother lives in Phoenix, but isn’t that the South East? Any way, we go back every summer because we feel it’s so important for Ellie know her “East Coast roots”.
In the summer of 2010 we made a little extra stop that meant a little bit extra to Ellie, Mike and myself. That particular summer we had the opportunity to go to Hershey Park with my Aunt, Uncle, and their 3 boys. Even my parents got to meet us for a little while. My husband and I spent the day riding every roller coaster with my then 10 year old cousins. We ate junk food, we laughed, we screamed, we acted like we were all 10 years old. No one cried, ok wait, maybe I cried, but I always cry. Such an amazing day.
Normally I would share secret tips with you, like pack a few snacks, bring extra clothes, either bring or rent a stroller, sunscreen and so on, but not this time. This time we didn’t pack snacks, we ate the junk food there. The only extra clothes we brought were our swimsuits for the water park. My tip for this trip, go with people you not only like, but love. This was such a special day we talk about it all the time. It may need to repeated this summer! You hear that Isenstein’s! The Seid’s want a Hershey Park redo!

It’s not always easy to travel with people so you are right, better to choose peeps you LOVE b/c like can be be broken more easily.
I LOVED my yearly family trip to Disneyland Resort. It is a perfect time for the four of us to hang out, eat junk food and feel the magic of Disney. I also love our annual trip to Arrowhead for New Years with another family. Quality time together, sledding, games, good food and GLEE karaoke. What more could a person ask for? : ) Not sure I can tune into the twitter party since that’s when we usually have dinner but I’ll try to chime in once or twice. : )
