From the time Little L was 3 months we’ve taken her to USCD for infant cogantive development studies. I’ve always felt that as long as little L enjoyed them, why not help these students learn more about the infant brain.
Yesterday for the first time, I participated along side little L. Oh Boy! Brainwave reading caps, motion detector dots, touch screen games and a whole lotta technical difficulties! Normally this test should have taken an hour, but yesterday it took 3 hours! Thank goodness Ellie was in a good mood! The Ladies were great with her too!!
They put these little motion dots on us. I thought that was pretty cool. They were just like the dots they use on when making video games to move like humans.
Taking a picture in her cap. It’s actually a pretty long processes to get these caps on. In each of those little plugs they have enject gel and plug in the cables in the right hole.
I got in on the act this time too. The screen you see between us was really cool. It was a big computer touch screen that we played games on.
This is Jordan, one of the students conducting the study. She was GREAT! Honestly Ellie had a great time. Jordan and the other students did a great job keeping her entertained!
After we took those caps off the gel left us with great hair do’s. YUCK!! We actually had a great time laughing at each other and playing games. The screen you see her leaning on was a touch screen we played games on. They gave her stickers, goldfish, and LOTS of attention which was her favorite part.
I know there are a few of you Mommies and Daddies who think that I probably shouldn’t be putting my daughter through this. Please know that it is painless and we both actually enjoyed out time, every time. We were paid $50 for our time, but we are going to use that money aside for the kids on the Angel Tree at Christmas time.
