I always hate the about me section. I’m so many different things, I’m never sure how to narrow it down into a paragraph or 2. I love taking pictures, dancing in my living room, talking, I really love talking, and Traveling. I’m an Ex NFL Cheerleader, a “first wife” and now a first time mommy with a beautiful little girl. My life is far from boring and though there are times I long for boring, in the end I’d have it no other way!

The thing I was most shocked by when I brought Nugget home has to be the baby acne thing. It was a true test of self-control for me since I’m a picker, poker, and prodder by nature. “Leave it be,”they would say. “Dont touch it,” they would preach. Luckily for Nugget, I heeded their advice, partly because I trust the experts, but mostly because I *may* have had a nightmare of leaving disfiguring my buddy’s face by succumbing to the temptation. Thank goodness I have my adult acne to tide me over in times of desperation.

I want to know how Stef got that piss to spray in her face right on cue!

Steph, I was lucky–we all have boys in our family and I was readily warned to through a wipe in a convenient spot while changing one, Kelly–the poop didn’t bug me so much–I had 3 older brothers I was used to grossness—Now Mary on the otherhand–

It wasn’t so much I was worried about my body returning to normal–But I had the OMG! WTF am I supposed to do with this thing? It probably was two months before the almighty instinct kicked in–But I have to tell you I was winging it up until that point! I had killed cactuses and NOW I am supposed to have a baby depend on me??? OMG! Yes I would feed him and bath him and change him–but It was out of having to tell myself this is what he needs. I think the instict kicked in when one day my mom had stopped by so I could rest –I had a c-section–of course I woke up and saw my baby was NOT in his cradle where I had left him! I nervously searched the room (forgetting I was in excruciating pain at the midsection –only to find my mom pacing the room with him—and THEN my midsection hurt.

But seriously I had this overwhelming fear I would forget to feed him–or forget he existed even!

  4. I love that the word “piss” was used at all.

Forgot about the Boppy and the tar piss. Nice memory gals.

  6. well, this is pleasant… LOL!!!!

for the few weeks that i was able to nurse, before my son’s breastmilk allergy reared it’s ugly ass head, i was most shocked at the fact that i could sit in the rocker in his nursery and while feeding him with one boob, shoot milk across the room and hit the wall behind his crib with my other boob.

i was like the fem-bots from austin powers but with breastmilk instead of lasers.

  7. i was shocked that my baby wasn’t the perfect sleeping angel that everyone claimed all babies are. for the first three weeks, she didn’t sleep AT ALL. that poor child…and poor mommy. I’m still exhausted from the first few weeks and she’s 6 months! Ummm hello, not all babies are the same! SHOCKER!

  8. J-RO says:

    1) the fact that you ladies are great!!!! I mean its great to know that rest of us are not alone…

What shocked me the most was realizing how unevenly weighted the responsibility was between my husband and me. Traditionally, he always did more of the cleaning, the cooking, etc. and he is much better with kids. So I assumed this would carry over to the baby as well. But my maternal instinct actually kicked in much quicker than I expected it to and his, well, he’s not the baby’s mother. So when the baby cries, he usually responds a beat later than I am comfortable with. And if it’s the middle of the night, my husband can sleep through the craziest of crying jags while I jolt awake the second she shifts in her sleep. The end result is I feel like the primary caretaker while he’s there as a helping hand. It has really changed the dynamics of our relationship and we’re still trying to figure it out.

Also- Pee Pee Tents! (thank god I have a girl)

Biggest shocker was that they let me take her home from the hospital….I was thinking, “really? you trust me to take this little thing away with me?” Also Jennifer from La Jolla….she’s 4 weeks and I STILL have yet to get up the courage to cut the nails!!!!

  14. hip_m0m says:

I hadn’t necessarily *forgotten* about all of these things, but I think I mentally blocked them all on purpose. And, yes, now that I’m prepping for Baby #2 (7 years later), I’m freaking out all over again as if I’ve never done this before.

Piss and poop and barf. Yeah, I can handle all of that. That’s nothing. It’s the sleepless nights and leaky boobs I’m not ready for.
