So you’ve decided you’re going to bottle feed, now what? Which bottles are going to work best you? When I was pregnant with Ellie and even with Zach I had no idea which bottles I should be buying. They all claim to be best for baby, but which ones really work? And let’s be honest, I want to know which one are going to be me convenient for ME!!
All the bottles I reviewed are BPA free. As a matter of fact, I didn’t find one bottle that wasn’t BPA free. Now that we’ve made that clear.
Here are my top 5.
1. Avent’s New Natural Bottles - Disclaimer – Avent sent me 2 of their new Avent Natural Bottle’s to try out. We’ve used them a number of times over the last couple of weeks.
- The wide shaped nipple create a natural latch for babies. Especially if you’re also breastfeeding.
- The nipple is extra soft and flexible to provide more comfort while feeding.
- Size and shape make it easier for baby to hold.
- Easy to clean! The wide neck makes it incredible easy to clean.
- Less mess when using formula. Because of the wide neck I don’t have a hard time scooping formula into the bottle.
- Because of the new “twin valve” design there is less air in the babies belly. Translation, less belly aches!
Con’s
- Because of the size and shape of the bottle it doesn’t fit into traditional bottle accessories, like my Brica travel bottle warmer.
- The large nipple doesn’t fit into my dishwasher easily.
2. Born Free
- Similar to a mother’s natural milk flow, which reduces nipple confusion and helps support moms to reach their breastfeeding goal.
- Baby can control the flow of milk
- Born Free’s ActiveFlow™ Venting Technology reduces gas pain.
Con’s
- A few linking issues
- Because of all the parts they’re difficult to clean.
- Because the Drop-Ins contain less air, this means less air in the belly.
- Drop-Ins also promote more milk intake.
- Pre-sterilized drop ins makes prep and clean up easy.
Con’s
- Drop-Ins create more trash.
- Drop-Ins are an extra cost.
- If the Drop-In breaks it can create a mess.
- The extra wide nipple flexes and stretches similar to a breast. Great for Mom’s who are also breastfeeding.
- The valve allows babies to feed comfortably with less air in their tummies.
Con’s
- If you don’t get the nipple on just right you could have leaking issues.
- Size of the nipple is to wide for some babies
- Shape of bottle prevents bottle from fitting into traditional bottle accessories
5. Dr. Brown’s - Disclaimer – I’ve used Dr. Brown’s bottle with both Ellie and Zach.
- Patented two-piece internal vent system ventilates air away from nipple. Again, no air in the tummy.
- They come in both regular and wide neck (wide nipple). So baby can decide what they like best.
- Regular shape can be used with traditional bottle accessories.
Con’s
- Though not incredibly difficult to clean, there are a lot of parts.
- My local market doesn’t carry them in their infant section! UGH!!

I used Avent with my first two (prior to them going bpa free :/ ) and we used Tommy Tippy with my third! LOVE Tommy tippy and all of their sippy cups too!
