We talk and worry constantly about the quality of our education system and how to fix it.  A good first step to fixing the system is making sure these kids stay in school. Lets give these kid at least a shot at getting an education.

A couple of weeks ago myself, Stefanie aka ooph and a number of other amazing social media Mama’s had the opportunity to head up to Riddell High, I mean Venice High School, to meet with Matthew McConaughey, Communities in Schools, and P&G.   We learned about Matthew McConaughey’s foundation Just Keep Livin and how they’ve teamed up with Communities in Schools and P&G to help keep these kids in school.

The Just Keep Livin Foundation’s goal is not just to keep kids in school, but to encourage these teenagers to lead active lives and make healthy choices while graduating high school.

We actually had the opportunity to see some of these kids in action and hear some of their stories.

So how can you help? You can participate in the School the Nation program.

Every time you  buy $25 worth of participating P&G brands, you’ll get a $5 rebate by mail and P&G will donate $5 to Communities in Schools(CIS).  Don’t forget to check your local papers for the P&G brandSAVER®. Every coupon redeemed for participating brands, P&G will also donate $.02 to Communities in Schools.

To learn which P&G brands are participating and to learn more about School the Nation goto the Get, Give and Save website.

Now that I’ve told you about the important stuff, I’m going to share the fun stuff.

Yes I did get to meet Matthew McConaughey.

And you can tell he genuinely care for these kids.

He knew their names, their stories and made me fall in love with this program.  This will not be the last time you here me talk about The Just Keep Livin Foundation  or Communities in Schools(CIS).

Oh and yes, I really was at Riddell High.

*Disclaimer – A huge thank you to the folks over at SheSpeaks for setting up this event and providing the transportation for us!!

I always hate the about me section. I’m so many different things, I’m never sure how to narrow it down into a paragraph or 2. I love taking pictures, dancing in my living room, talking, I really love talking, and Traveling. I’m an Ex NFL Cheerleader, a “first wife” and now a first time mommy with a beautiful little girl. My life is far from boring and though there are times I long for boring, in the end I’d have it no other way!
