I always hate the about me section. I’m so many different things, I’m never sure how to narrow it down into a paragraph or 2. I love taking pictures, dancing in my living room, talking, I really love talking, and Traveling. I’m an Ex NFL Cheerleader, a “first wife” and now a first time mommy with a beautiful little girl. My life is far from boring and though there are times I long for boring, in the end I’d have it no other way!

Laura Lee Hope is my choice. Because she wrote The Bobbsey Twins series. It was the first book I clearly remember reading. I devoured EVERY single one. They created a passion for reading and writing in me that has given my life purpose ever since.
OMG I cannot believe it but you said it EXACTLY the way I’ve been saying it for YEARS!!!!! Judy Blume is the shit. No doubt about it. I cannot imagine any girl in my generation wasn’t affected by Are You There God It’s Me Margaret? I will tell you that the Fudge series is definitely the catalyst to my adoration of books today. Yay for another Blume fan!
Wow – you are SPOT ON!!! I lived through Judy Blume books!! It was so awesome to hear you talk about them. Brought back wonderful, sad, funny, ALL TYPES of memories! Great meeting you today too.
Jen
Loved me some Judy Blume. Was so bummed that my daughter refused to read her books!! I bet she would have been willing to read “Forever.” Too bad she doesn’t know that book exists…
Thank you guys for all the comments! Wait, Jennifer, so your saying that kids now a days aren’t reading Judy Blume anymore? OH NO! She’s amazing how could they not?
Oh and I completely forgot about Forever! I think Judy Blume is going to this summers reading for me. I miss her.
OKAY. UMMMM. Helloooooooo. Is this thing working? *tap tap tap* NO ONE else read The Bobbsey Twins? I know. It’s not about periods. But they were twins. They solved BIG SCARY mysteries.
Anyone? Ferris? Anyone?
I have never hear of the Bobbsey Twins. I’ve heard of the Hardy Boys. You were always meant to have boys weren’t you!
I vaguely remember the Bobbsey Twins–don’t think I read that series though. I did read all of the Nancy Drew books and a few Hardy Boys–loved them.
Theresa, my daughter wouldn’t read Judy Blume because I desperately wanted her to. Tell L she isn’t allowed to read “Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret” and she will be desperate to! I promise! Having said that, none of my daughter’s friends were into Judy Blume–if they had been, she would have read the books whether I wanted her to or not. Sad, I know.
Sorry but unfortunately I never read the Bobsey Twins. I tried to get my oldest to consider reading Tales of the 4th Grade Nothing and he was NOT interested. He’d rather read Captain Underpants. That is not cool at all. There’s still time for him though. I’m forcing him to read Stuart Little right now. At least he’s enjoying it. If my kids don’t dig Judy Blume I may have to consider drastic measures. What pre-teen girl wouldn’t read “Are You There God It’s Me Margaret?” I mean what?
Bobbsey Twins also one of my favorite series. Nancy Drew too. Major major influence on me in a writerly-plotting kinda way.
But the most influential author for me of all time? Was Madeleine L’Engle, who wrote the Wrinkle in Time series. THAT defined my generation and set me on the path as a writer.
Great question, T!
P.S. Judy Blume is a great pick.
