It ain’t what they used to be as far as supporting the music, you know what I’m sayin’?

Can’t we all just get along?

Apparently not, because there are a few VMA attendee’s that just wanted to kick. Well at least give a good talking too. There were however, a few positive eye watery moments too. I have so much to say, so settle in!

Winner: Selena Gomez

Loser: Justin Beiber

First let’s me just say Selena Gomez is adorable, but her boyfriend Justin Beiber is a complete tool. This adorable girl was trying to work the Pre-Show and Beiber could not keep his hands off her.

Dude! You’re 17, we don’t want to see that. Your 19 year old girl friend was trying to work and be professional. Have some class!

Your snakes name is Johnson? What, are you like 16? Oh wait, you are.

Later after Chris Brown’s performance you can see the Bieb mouth, “That’s my Boy”. Ok, Justin, Chris Brown is so not your boy. Selena, RUN!!!

Winner, but ultimately a LOSER: Tyler, The Creator

Let’s talk quickly about Best New Artist Nominee and Winner Tyler, The Creator. Why does someone with such an adorable little baby face have to be so hateful? Stop trying to start drama with other musicians, (ie Bruno Mars). Stop with the homophobic slurs. You’re only showing your ignorance.

Second, Tyler, an entourage is so 2003. A strong Hip Hop artist doesn’t need one! Look at Jay-Z, Kanye, Drake, and even Eminem. They don’t hit that stage with an entourage anymore. Put on your big boy pants (or just pull your own up) and take that stage like you deserve to be there.

Winner: Jo Calderone aka Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga opened the show as Jo Calderone and performed You and I. She didn’t break character through the whole show. Ok, maybe once. After trying to get Britney Spears to kiss her, she and Brit had giggle moment when the lights were going down.

Gaga’s, Born This Way, also won for Best Video with a message. She did get a little choked up a couple times while she gave her acceptance speech. Good for you Gaga!

Winners: Beyonce and Jay-Z

After a fun performance Beyonce dropped her mic, unbuttoned her jacket and rubbed her cute belly. Congrats to Jay-Z and Beyonce!

Losers: Kayne and Jay-Z

I know I just said Jay-Z was a winner, but I can be a bit bi-polar.

I have to say Kayne and Jay-Z’s performance was AWFUL!!!! What was that?

I do need to give a big thumbs up to Jay-Z for not standing applauding for Chris Brown. We know where his allegiance is.

Winners: Foo Fighters

Not just for winning Best Rock Video of the year, but because they’re the Foo Fighters. They rock!

Winner: Katy Perry

She is adorable and she won Video of the Year. I love that her hubby got all teary eye’d when she thanked him. Love Love Love

Winner: Adele

She has such an amazing voice.

Quick note to all you boys out there. You better make sure you start treating the girls you date better. You never know, you could be dating the next Adele or Taylor Swift. Do you really want to end up in a song that tells the world you suck.

Loser: Lil Wayne

Normally, I like a little Lil Wayne, but last night, not so much. His auto tuned mic was ridiculous. His pants around knees? Another fashion miss. Didn’t that go out of style around the same time entourages did?

Winner: Britney Spears

I think she may be back! Last night was the first time in a long time that I actually saw that sparkle back in her eyes. Not only did she win best Pop Video, but she was also awarded with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

I personally loved how excited Gaga was when she was introducing the Award.

Winner: Young the Giant

This Irvine CA local band, gave an amazing performance! I can’t wait to download their album today.

Loser: VMAs

With so many winning moments, why would I give the VMA’s a thumbs down? Because it’s not what it use to be. The show doesn’t pull the super stars it use too. I’m not just saying that just because JT wasn’t there.

Where was P Diddy, Pink, J-Lo, Rihanna, and Eminiem? I mean, come on, only one Jonas brother showed up. The surrogacy issue we’ve sort of danced around. We had danced around fertility last year which I, you know, from friends’ experience I have known as a very heavy subject.

And somehow our writers, a couple of whom had gone through fertility issues with their own wives, managed to find all of the humor that was possible – if that is possible in sort of the fertility shots and the processes that you go through, and the heartbreak along with the absurdity of it.”

I loved Linda’s next question

Linda: I’m wondering do you think Audrey would like to be a mom blogger and share this with the world.

Megyn: I don’t know that she is in touch yet with her super squish side. I think that a lot of her decisions are goal-oriented.

Vivian from Momlogic: What’s the one thing that you’ve learned in life that you’d most like to pass on to your daughter?

Megyn: To be nicer to myself. I mean just to be kind to yourself. I think that’s the biggest thing. I think what I’ve learned – probably not until I was 30 years old was the way you treat yourself is the way you ask other people to treat you.

So, I think all the self-deprecating comments and all the self-flagellating comments can go out the window. I think it’s very important to be kind to yourself because you teach other people to be kind to you as well.

I think that’s a little advice we could all use.

Kelly from 5 Minutes for Mom: How do you find that balance with obviously having a successful career but also being a mom?

I think this is a question we all struggle with daily.

Megyn: Well balance is a word I don’t ever use because it never feels balanced ever. But I think what has really helped me is remaining really grateful.

Because I can – if you want me to be just totally honest, I can literally lament and want to quit my job every single day of my life. And I have to take a moment to say – and you have a job that people would cut off limbs to have.

And you are so fortunate that I got to keep my job through pregnancy and post-pregnancy and got to take my baby to work with me every single day.

A huge thank you to all the women on the call!

Vivian – Momlogic

Christine – Blissfully Domestic

Carmen – Untrained Housewife

Kelly – 5 Minutes for Mom

Linda – LindaSellers.com

Sherry – Have You Heard

Jeanine – Two for Mom

Megyn Price grew up in Oklahoma and studied economics and communication at Stanford University. While in school, she frequently performed at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and in university productions. After graduation, her short-lived career in finance soon gave way to her passion for acting.

On television, she was a regular on the series “LateLine,” and played Claudia the “Hot Mom” in the series “Grounded for Life.” Her additional television credits include the series “Will & Grace” and “The Drew Carey Show.” Her feature film credits include “Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector,” “Mystery, Alaska” and ”Love Happens.” On stage, she has appeared in the highly irreverent comedy, ”The Anne Heche Monologues” and “The New Living Room.”

Megyn currently lives in Los Angeles withher husband, an emergency room doctor, their daughter and their dog.

Rock On Mommies wants to know – 2

Girls Chat

Bernthis

mommy blogger

San Diego Momma

Shuggilippo

vlog

What was the one thing you never expected to say to your child? Especially holidays. And ESPECIALLY Thanksgiving.

It was probably our biggest and most difficult-to-navigate holiday.

Christmas was easy: Christmas eve with Dad’s side of the family and Christmas Day with Mom’s side. But Thanksgiving was a NATIONAL holiday. A day to celebrate alongside our neighbors, regardless of color or creed, as AMERICANS. Splitting up Thanksgiving over two days would be un-American! So here’s how I spent every Thanksgiving of my childhood:

First, we’d head to my dad’s parent’s house. All the adults would squeeze into the living room and they’d drag picnic benches into the kitchen for us many, many kids. Dad’s family usually served the meal around noon. (I know!) The food? Was SO. GOOD. We’d gorge ourselves on the rich “American” fare we truly only ate once a year: Turkey, Yams, etc. Everything swimming in butter. Only “American” music would be played: big band, Mathis and Doris Day. After my Aunt Maria’s delicious homemade pumpkin pie, we’d end our festivities with, what else? A BIRTHDAY PARTY. Oh, yeah! Several family members had late-November birthdays and my grandparents would take advantage of having the whole family under one roof. So we’d bust into the 2-hours-old “leftovers” and then, naturally, we’d have cousin Becky’s butter-filled layer cake for dessert!

(My dad, left, and his brother Jess with their post-Thanksgiving birthday cakes)

Then we’d head over to Mom’s family home. You know, for Thanksgiving.

It was a short trip from East Cedar Street to West Cedar Street, where my mom’s parents lived. They served the meal at 4pm-which meant we had to leave the birthday party early. Mom’s family was just as big and it was just as tight a squeeze to seat everyone. Only problem? The food was better at the first house. It was! With Mom’s family, you could bet that the giblet bag had been baked inside the bird. Or that the mashed potatoes would be too thick to penetrate with a steel serving spoon. Or that the bread could be used to shatter the windshield of your worst enemy. (Before you get insulted, Aunt Sheila, may I remind you that they literally could not slice that bread with a saw.) And we were SO FULL. But we HAD to eat! So eat we did. And the fact that the food was so much better at the first house was always very quickly mitigated by the fact that the laughs were so much bigger at the second house.

By nightfall, my parents, my sister and I would be too full to sleep. We are blessed to eat and we are blessed to laugh, but take it from me: over-eating and over-laughing should only be mixed on very, very special occasions. It’s the American way.

What were your crazy Thanksgiving traditions? I can’t be the only one!

Rock On Mommies is excited to introduce you to Margo!

A professional interior designer and blogger, I’m a grown-up art-school brat with 2 kids, a marriage and a couple of businesses. I love using the visual medium of the internet to connect with people.
